The FH UNIB was established on March 31st, 1982, along with the establishment of
the University of Bengkulu, through Presidential Decree Number 17/1982. Based on the
Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number
17/0/1993 in conjunction with the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the
Republic of Indonesia Number 0325/U/1994 in conjunction with the Decree of the Director
General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of
Indonesia Number 214/Dikti/Kep/1996, it is implicitly stipulated that all law faculties in
Indonesia, the FH UNIB only has one study programme; the Legal Study Programme
(henceforth PSIH – Program Studi Ilmu Hukum).
The FH UNIB initially had the nomenclature of the Legal Study Programme (PSIH).
Based on the Decree of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the
Republic of Indonesia Number 1343/KPT/I/2018 concerning the change of the name of the
Study Programme at UNIB in Bengkulu Province, so the nomenclature of the Law Study
Programme was changed to a Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Law Studies. Furthermore,
based on the decree of the Rector of the University of Bengkulu Number 4991/UN30/AK/2019,
the Rector of the University of Bengkulu has issued a letter to the Head of BAN-PT concerning
the correction of the study programme name on the BAN-PT website.
BL has three (3) specialisation programmes; Administrative and State Law, the Civil
and Economic Law, and the Criminal Justice System and Community Protection Specialisation
Programme. In addition, in the Faculty of Law, there is a “part” that performs the function of
the department, based on Article 70 paragraph (7) Decree of the Minister of National Education
of the Republic of Indonesia Number 111/0/2004 concerning the UNIB Statute, as amended
by Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number
75/0/2013, which stated that within the FH UNIB, there are three parts; the State
Administrative Law, the Civil Law, and the Criminal Law.
